We're supporting a great new initiative for Indie Beer Week

Indie Beer Week is a new UK-wide beer week that has been launched by independent beer campaigners to celebrate and promote independent beer, pubs and people with a series of events nationwide. It runs from the 11th to the 20th  of April.

Neil Walker, Indie Beer / SIBA said: “Indie Beer Week is a national celebration of great independent beer and a chance for our superb pubs and breweries to attract new customers, or give regulars a great new beer experience by running special events, beer festivals, tap takeovers, meet the brewer evenings or tasting experiences which celebrate local beer and producers.

“The huge response to the launch of the Indie Beer campaign – which is now supported by over 400 breweries and has been used by tens of thousands of consumers – shows how important supporting local independent beer is to people. The Indie Beer campaign and Indie Beer Week shines a light on genuinely independent breweries and makes it easier for consumers to find out what is or isn’t independent via the IndieBeer.uk website.”

Alex Balchin, our brewing director and regional director for the North East region of SIBA, said: “A report published by SIBA found that the majority of people surveyed believe consumers are being misled when purchasing beer from well known beers that were once independent craft breweries but are now owned by global beer giants.

“The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of independent breweries by providing pubs and restaurants with Indie Beer mark pump clip add ons to enable customers to make an informed choice. Throughout Indie Beer Week we will be visiting local pubs to tell them about the campaign and to add the Indie Beer marks to our pump clips.”

The Indie Beer campaign aims to make the Indie Beer mark the recognisable standard for high quality craft and cask beer, brewed across the UK by truly independent breweries.

The campaign was launched by the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates with the support of other beer organisations including the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the British Institute of Innkeeping (Bii), and Independent Family Brewers of Britain (IFBB).
