Farmers' Weekly Shortlist Success

A Yorkshire coast micro-brewery is celebrating after being shortlisted in a national farming award. Wold Top Brewery, near Driffield in East Yorkshire is the only northern farm based business to reach the final three of Farmers? Weekly magazine?s competition to find its Diversification Farmer of the Year. The award winning brewery is up against two Kent farmers, one who has diversified into a farm shop, restaurant, garden centre, workshops and offices and the other has developed offices and?a shop selling oils and foods made from farm-grown lavender. Local businesses pull together to support Wold Top Brewery charity brew

An award-winning Yorkshire coast brewery has embarked on a massive charity drive in memory of the son of an employee. Dan Bayes, son of Wold Top Brewery?s cellarman Geoff, lost his battle to a rare form of aggressive bone cancer, osteosarcoma, in April this year, aged just 25. Humbled and inspired by the way that the Bayes family, supported by theCandlelighters charity, had coped with Dan?s 13 year illness, brewery owners and staff decided to raise money for the Leeds based charity that is dedicated to combatting childhood cancer and to making the lives of the children and their families...

Brewery charity drive gets off to a good start

A Yorkshire coast brewery?s massive charity drive in memory of the son of its cellarman was given a great start this week. Dan Bayes was just 25 when he lost his battle to cancer earlier this year and Wold Top Brewery has launched an appeal to raise money for the charity that helped him and his family throughout his 13 year illness. The brewery team aims to raise ?10,000 for the Candlelighters children?s cancer charity by brewing a limited edition ale and through sponsorship for the brewery team doing the Great North Run (20th September). Warwick University Theatre Group 'No Soup Productions' hit on a winning formula to attract customers to its production, Wondering' at the Edinburgh Festival - they gave away a bottle of?Wolds Way to every member of the audience.? Organiser Rosie Bristow from Beverley said; "It was a real talking point and everybody loved it."

Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery will be one of a number of Yorkshire businesses showcasing the best of Yorkshire?s food and drink at the annual Michaelmas Fair at?Burton Agnes Hall later this month.
