The birth of twins inspires a one off beer at Yorkshire Wolds brewery

We're VERY excited to share our latest news story! Two new arrivals into a Yorkshire Wolds beer-brewing family are being celebrated with a limited-edition beer. The birth of identical twins Elizabeth and Matilda Balchin marks the fifth generation of the Mellor family, owners of Wold Top Brewery. To mark the occasion, the Wold Newton based business has launched a new Doppelbock-style beer called Ditto (7% ABV). The twins are the daughters of Kate Balchin (née Mellor), export and accounts manager and husband, Alex Balchin, brewery and bottling manager. Please can you help us to raise money for the Poppy Appeal?

We're proud to announce that we are supporting the North and East Yorkshire Poppy Appeal by producing a limited edition cask beer. We have brewed a light beer called Remember (4.2% ABV) that will be available at selected pubs in North and East Yorkshire from the 1st to the 13th November; the period known as Remembrancetide. For each of the 54 casks sold, we will donate £10 to the Poppy Appeal. The Poppy Appeal is the Royal British Legion’s biggest fundraising campaign and is held annually in November. We begin our October newsletter with details about our cask ale of the month - Worts N'Ale An autumnal golden coloured bitter, brewed with home grown malts and hopped with Fuggles, which gives a fresh English countryside bitterness with First Gold adding notes of orange and spice, perfect for celebrating falling leaves, roasted chestnuts and log fires. Worts N'Ale is only available in cask from pubs, hotels and restaurants throughout October, or until stocks last, so head down to your local and give it a try. Here's some more information about our forthcoming beer festival... Wold Top Brewery is to host its first ever beer festival when it opens the gates to the brewery for a two-day event next month. The idea of a Wold Top beer festival has long been discussed amongst the brewery team of 18, but the date for the Big Sky Beer Festival has been fixed for October 7 and 8 and it promises to be a weekend filled with fine ales, great food and good music.
