A Yorkshire Wolds micro brewery with a strong and loyal following in its Yorkshire heartland is preparing to impress southern drinkers with its award winning ales after securing a prestigious contract to supply beer to the Royal Academy of Arts in London.


Wold Newton based Wold Top Brewery was invited to supply the Restaurant at the Royal Academy on Piccadilly following a 'Meet the Chefs' day at Beverley Tickton Grange where Gill and Tom Mellor presented their beer to Mark Hollyer, Head Chef of the Royal Academy and Simon Duff, Head Chef of Peyton and Byrne, franchise holders for the Restaurant at the Royal Academy.


Commenting on the contract, brewery owner Tom Mellor said; "We are delighted to bring a taste of the Yorkshire Wolds to London and to share our passion for regional food and drink with the team at Peyton and Byrne and the Royal Academy of Arts."


Wold Top Brewery will be supplying its award winning beers* Wold Top Bitter (3.7% ABV) and WoldGold Blonde beer (4.8% ABV) in 500ml bottles to the Restaurant at the Royal Academy, the shop and the Friends of the RA bar from 17th January.


Established in 2003, farm based Wold Top Brewery brews traditional real ale from home and Wolds grown malting barley, the finest hops and pure, chalk-filtered Wolds water. In addition to the Restaurant at the Royal Academy in Burlington House, its range of award winning ales is available through the website www.woldtopbrewery.co.uk, independent, family owned retailers, farm shops, delis, hotels, pubs and off licences throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.


Peyton & Byrne operate a number of quality food outlets. They are passionate about quality British ingredients and source all their meat, fish, dairy and vegetables directly from artisan producers. They make everything in their own kitchens from scratch using only fresh, sustainable, environmentally friendly ingredients.


* Wold Top Bitter beat two Black Sheep beers to win the deliciouslyorkshire award for Best Drink in 2009 and Wold Gold has won numerous awards including Two Stars from the Guild of Fine Food Taste Awards and Best Premium Bitter at the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) awards.
