Introducing the Wold Top Lockdown 60

Undeterred by the cancellation of this year's Sundown 60 sportive due to Covid-19, we have decided to host a virtual ride in aid of charity. Our virtual Wold Top Lockdown 60 ride replaces the popular Sundown 60 event that should have started and finished here at the brewery on 11th July. Our Director, Kate Balchin explains the rationale for the innovative event: “We can’t run our usual cycling event this year, and because our charity of the year, Ryedale Special Families can’t run their Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge either, we wanted to find a way of supporting them as much as we could....

Lockdown life at the brewery

What an odd month April was…. It’s passed very quickly (for us at least) and we can’t believe it’s almost mid May already….! It will be interesting to see what the next weeks bring, but for now, let us give you a little insight into lockdown life here at Wold Top. The closure of pubs, restaurants and other hospitality outlets at the end of March has had a significant impact on our business (as I’m sure it has on many others) and we lost 40% of our trade overnight. We're a REYTA winner!

Last night, we attended our first virtual awards ceremony; the Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTA). These awards recognise the best and brightest in East Yorkshire's tourism related businesses and acknowledge the contribution businesses like ours make to the area’s visitor economy (under normal circumstances). Played out live on Facebook and YouTube and watched by hundreds of people, it was a brilliant event that was organised very well by tourism body, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire and hosted by broadcaster, Blair Jacobs. We've bottled our first lager

Further to the successful launch of the keg version last year, and in response to customer demand, we have launched Landmark Lager (4.2% ABV) in a 330ml bottle. The lager, the first that we have produced since the brewery was founded in 2003, is made from home grown and locally malted barley, water from the farm’s borehole and British and European hops. We brewed it in response to feedback from our annual questionnaire, so thank you to everyone who responded - your views really do matter.
