Micro-Brewery's Spectacular SASH fundraiser
Posted by Wold Top Brewery on
A Yorkshire Wolds micro-brewery is to host a fund raising event for Wold Newton based charity SASH (Sustainable Aid Supporting Haiti).
Last year, Wold Top Brewery Directors Tom and Gill Mellor were approached by former employees Will Brown and Melanie Coull who set up SASH to help people in the rural areas of Haiti who were badly affected by the aftermath of the January 2010 earthquake. The brewery offered to help the charity by brewing a special Haiti Aid Ale and have donated £1 from the sale of each bottle to help fund the charity's critical work.
This year, on 12th July, the brewery's home, Hunmanby Grange will host a Summer Spectacular evening featuring a Haitian style supper, live music and a grand firework display.
Since Will, Mel and a team of volunteers started their work in Haiti, they have helped to provide food, medical aid, tools, shelter, health education, a clinic, two schools and five wells and have distributed thousands of mattresses, hygiene kits, tool kits and equipment to those who need it most.
Speaking about the event, Wold Top Brewery's Gill Mellor said; "We're pleased to be able to support SASH as they build on the work they have already done by raising funds to drill more new wells and we hope that the evening will raise at least the £3,200 needed for another two new wells. It promises to be a fun evening!"
Tickets for the event cost £40 and are available by calling Rebecca Martin on 01723 581236. Dress code for the evening is loud, warm and bright!
Haiti Aid Ale is a crisp, light easy drinking beer with an ABV of 4.4%. As SASH does not use the funds raised for salaries and administration every penny of the £1 goes to support the most needy Haitian people. Haiti Aid Ale is only available online at www.woldtopbrewery.co.uk/mailorder or direct from the brewery by calling 01723 892222.
