Brewery owner scoops Top Director award

The owner of a leading East Yorkshire micro-brewery is celebrating after winning a top prize at the prestigious?IoD (Institute of Directors) awards.

Tom Mellor Director of Wold Top BreweryTom Mellor, from Wold Newton?s Wold Top Brewery was awarded SME Director Of The Year at the Institute of Directors Yorkshire Director Of The Year Awards at a black tie ceremony at Leeds Armouries on 9th September.

Tom was amongst 21 business leaders from Yorkshire and the Humber who were short-listed for this year's awards in categories including Entrepreneur of the Year, Young Director of the Year, Not for Profit and Voluntary Sector Director of the Year and Director of the Year.? Tom beat stiff competition to take the title of SME Director of the Year; a new category introduced this year and won up to 15 days of executive training delivered by Leeds Business School.

Commenting on his win, Tom said; ?It was a big surprise to win, but a great honour.?

Now in its sixth year, the awards were designed to celebrate the achievements of Yorkshire and the Humber's most hardworking and innovative business leaders.
